This 9-days, 8-nights safari adventure focuses on Kenya’s iconic wildlife, as you journey through diverse national parks and reserves. The itinerary incorporates flights for longer transfers and drives for shorter ones, based on typical safari logistics. Activities include game drives, wildlife viewing, and cultural experiences, drawing from the unique highlights of each location. You’ll enjoy full-board meals (unless specified) and stay in classic lodges.
The trip starts and ends in Nairobi, assuming international flights align with Day 1 arrival and Day 9 departure.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1 - Nairobi to Tsavo West national Park. Drive (~300 km / 5–6 hrs) or optional flight: Wilson Nairobi → Voi Airstrip (~1 hr) then drive 1 hr to lodge.
Day 2 - Full day game drives in Tsavo West National Park.
Day 3 - Transfer from Tsavo West National Park to Amboseli National Park. Drive (~100 km 2 hrs)
Day 4 - Full day game drives in Tsavo West National Park.
Day 5 - Amboseli National Park to Tsavo East National Park. Drive (~250 km / 4 hrs).
Day 6 - Full game drive Tsavo West National Park
Day 7 - Transfer from Tsavo East National Park to Watamu. Drive (~300 km / 5–6 hrs)
Day 8 - Watamu Full Day
Day 9 - Transfer Watamu → Malindi Airstrip (~20 km / 30 min). Flight Malindi → Nairobi (~1 hr).

Itinerary

Day 1 – Nairobi – Tsavo National Park

Your safari starts with a pick-up at 7:30 AM from your Nairobi hotel or airport. You will drive to Tsavo West National Park, approximately 300 km / 5–6 hours, with a scenic stopover at the Great Rift Valley or Optional Flight: Wilson Nairobi → Voi Airstrip (~1 hr), then a 1-hour drive to lodge. Arrive at your lodge, check in, and enjoy a hot lunch. In the afternoon, depart for a game drive, exploring Mzima Springs, the Chyulu Hills, and the park’s abundant wildlife.

Return to your lodge/camp by 5:30–6:00 PM, freshen up, and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner.

Day 2 – Tsavo West National Park – Amboseli

Today we start early morning so we can appreciate the breaking light over the plains and be ready to view the wildlife as it emerges into the new day .

We shall spend your days on morning and afternoon game drives, spotting lions, leopards, cheetahs, and large red elephant herds. Visit Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear oasis fed by underground streams from Mount Kilimanjaro,

We’ll be able to explore on foot, treading the green carpet of vegetation by the clear waters where you can observe hippos and crocodiles from an underwater viewing chamber. Then it’s time to head to our next park, Amboseli.

It’s a fairly short trip to Amboseli ~ 90 km and since we’ll be here for a few days we can relax, take it easy and enjoy the picture-perfect presence of mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro overlooking the reserve.

Day 3 – Amboseli

We’ll be up early to take another peek at Kilimanjaro’s summit and then we’re off on a game drive to see what the morning will bring to us. Our early morning drive will be followed by a big, safari breakfast. Riding the hills and plains here certainly increases one’s appetite!

Then we’ll take off on a mid-morning game drive, looking for all kinds of wildlife. The park also hosts smaller mammals such as fox, hyena, monkey and yellow baboon. We’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch at our accommodation. Take as much time as you need to relax and soak up the environment.

When you’re ready we’ll head out for an afternoon drive, appreciating the great mountain and the numerous wildlife beneath its protective gaze. If you’d like to add a unique experience to your safari, take advantage of an optional visit to the nearby Masai village. Here you’ll meet the Maasai people and learn, first-hand about their pastoral lifestyle. Your driver/guide will be happy to make the arrangements.

Day 4 – Amboseli – Tsavo East National Park

We’ll be up early for our last chance to view Mt. Kilimanjaro’s peak and enjoy the day’s first light upon the park. Besides elephants the reserve also enjoys sightings of lions, cheetahs, hyenas, plus zebras and wildebeests. So be on the lookout this morning to see who you can spot.

Soon, we’re ready for breakfast and then it’s time to leave the park, as we hop onto the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

We’ll reach the great expanse of Tsavo East National Parkin the afternoon. This is a big park – the largest in Kenya and it boasts lots of big game. It’s also the place of legend, where ferocious lions roam and that’s who we’ll be tracking. But there will also be plenty of time to relax as well. As always, it’s your choice of how to spend your time.

Your guide will expertly track for the best spots to find and view the animals as we end the day with an African sunset over the park.

Day 5 – Tsavo East national Park

On our dawn game drive, We’ll breakfast and then enjoy safari amongst Tsavo’s wild and rugged terrain. The park’s limitless horizon is always a joy to appreciate and fix within our memory.

We drive east to Tsavo East, a more open landscape with vast savannas and the Galana River. This park hosts one of Kenya’s largest elephant populations and is historically known for the “man-eating lions” of Tsavo. At David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, witness  orphaned elephants returning to the camp for milk feeds and interactions with wild herds as they reintegrate into nature. Enjoy full-day game drives to see giraffes, buffaloes, and possibly rare species like the fringe-eared oryx.

Day 6 – Tsavo National Park – Watamu

We’ll breakfast and then enjoy a final safari amongst Tsavo’s wild and rugged terrain. The park’s limitless horizon is always a joy to appreciate and fix within our memory.

Finally, lunch will be served at the lodge’s open-air restaurant with massive vistas of the east Tsavo plains. check out and begin the afternoon transfer to Watamu (110 km / ~3 hours by road). Along the route, enjoy scenic views of the coastal hills, palm-lined villages, and the gradual change from arid savannah to lush greenery near the Kenyan coast.

Arrive at your beach resort in Watamu in the late afternoon, check in, and relax on the pristine white sand beaches. End the day with dinner by the ocean.

Day 7 – 8 Watamu

After breakfast at your resort, spend the morning exploring Watamu Marine National Park. Enjoy snorkeling or diving among colorful coral reefs, tropical fish, and sea turtles. We shall visit nearby Mida Creek located south of Malindi, just near Watamu which covers about 32 square kilometers.

It consists of a muddy plain that is discovered with low tides and mangrove forests that attract a multitude of fauna. Along the inlets numerous bird species can be observed, among which a Kingfisher, an Egret, an Osprey, a Sea Eagle, the Yellow-Billed Storks with a woolly neck, grey herons abound. Flamingoes are often seen feeding in Mida. Hire a canoe/kayak and enjoy exploration of the creek before returning back towards your hotel for an afternoon swim and relaxation before winding down for the evening.

We visit the Gedi Ruins; one of the few historical sites in Kenya located in the village of Gede. The remains of the Arab city date back to the period between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries. The ruins are surrounded by forests, monkeys and numerous butterflies.

Alternatively; visit Malindi town for some sightseeing or visit to the Malindi Marine Park. The park is endowed with magnificent resources such as fringing reefs, coral, sea grass, mangroves, mudflats, high fish diversity, marine mammals, turtles and shorebirds.

Afternoons, relax on white sandy beaches or take an optional dhow sailing excursion, enjoying the turquoise waters and gentle coastal breeze.

In the evening, watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean and enjoy dinner at the resort.

Day 9 – Watamu – Malindi – Nairobi

Final breakfast before room check out and transfer to Malindi airport. The airport is located about 30 minutes’ drive from Watamu where you will board the approximately 1.5hrs flight back to Nairobi’s international airport in good time for you to catch your flight back home with lasting memories of a memorable trip in Kenya.
